On September 24, 2020, the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting (IER) conducted an online presentation of the results of the Fifth Annual Survey of Exporters and Importers “TradeSurvey1000+” Episode One: Assessing Customs Performance.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, the State Customs Service of Ukraine, the Office of the Business Ombudsman of Ukraine, the EU Delegation to Ukraine, the Renaissance Foundation, experts and NGOs.
During the event, the key results of a survey of more than 1,000 Ukrainian companies-exporters and importers, conducted in 2020, were presented. As the last year was marked by the reformatting of the Ukrainian customs service, the IER asked companies about their assessment of changes in customs and whether these changes had a significant impact on their import and export operations. The authors of the report presented the results of a business survey to assess the work of customs, highlighted the main obstacles to export and import operations, bureaucracy and corruption, the cost of export-import operations, the attitude of business to customs reform
The first event in a series of public discussions of the results of this survey took place, which will take place by the end of 2020.
